A RAY OF HOPE FOR DESTITUTE BOYS
Kumudini Technical Training Institute was opened in 1984 in Narayanganj to provide training to young boys from poor families. This Institute is totally funded and run by Kumudini Welfare Trust. The Institute provides its students with all necessary tools and equipment as well as an allowance as pocket money for clothing, shoes, etc.
The course is for one year and after its completion a two-year period of apprenticeship in one of the workshops begins. The areas of training are welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, lathe machine operation, etc. The Institute is creating skilled mechanics and turning young boys from poor families into active and useful members of the society. A number of graduates from this school have found employment at home and in different countries of the Middle East. Each year around 50 students are trained by 7 trainers. As a self- reliant institution Kumudini relies on the Institute for the repair and maintenance work of all of its enterprises. The Institute also provides different kinds of technical services to outside organizations.
The Institute is being upgraded and refurbished with all facilities to be able to run courses approved by Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
